Zoning Variance Or Appeal

A variance is a request for relief from a requirement of the Land management Regulations Ordinance.  An appeal is a challenge to the Development Official’s interpretation of the land Management Regulations Ordinance.  The Aiken County Board of Appeals hears both requests for variances and requests for appeals.

A variance or appeal may be requested by completing an application.  Application forms can be obtained from the Planning & Development Department.  Completed applications should be submitted to the Planning & Development Department along with a non-refundable administrative fee 30 days prior to a scheduled meeting of the Board of Appeals.  The Board of Appeals meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM.

Contact the Planning & Development Department at 803.642.1520 for copies of the application form or for additional information about variances and appeals.
