The Public Works Department is made up of several divisions which are described as follows:
Roads & Bridges Division maintains approximately 600 miles of dirt roads and approximately 300 miles of paved roads. They maintain "right-of way" along all County roads, existing drainage systems, and install driveway/drainage pipe along County roads. It is the division's goal to provide all citizens of Aiken County with safe, maintained and easily accessible roadways (whether dirt or paved), drainage systems, and roadway signs.
Solid Waste Division provides facilities for the disposal of household, commercial, industrial, construction waste, and land clearing debris. This division provides resources and educational support for advancement of recycling programs throughout the County.
