Aiken County Government

provides many essential and beneficial services to its citizens. The County is governed by the County Council, comprised of an elected-at-large Council Chairman and 8 members elected from single-member districts. Find out who your Aiken County Council member is, and how to contact that person. Aiken County's Code of Laws is accessible online here. Also available are the Code of Laws for the City of Aiken and the City of North Augusta. The South Carolina Code of Laws and other references are also available online. Aiken County Government's services are provided by different departments in many locations around this large County. You can contact the County staff by phone, email, or in person. Generally, County offices are open between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The County normally has several job openings available to qualified applicants, as do the City of Aiken and the City of North Augusta. The South Carolina OneStop Job Center offers many great resources to assist you in your search for new and better employment.

State government provides helpful information to new and existing businesses at their Business One-Stop website, their Business site at SCBOS.SC.GOV, and at the SC Department of Commerce website. Business licenses are required in some of the incorporated areas of the County, but are not required in the unincorporated areas.

    Department: Aiken County Sheriff's Office
    Closing Date:  Continuous
    Under occasional supervision, receives in-coming emergency and non-emergency calls, and dispatches calls for law enforcement to appropriate personnel in an accurate, timely and professional manner. Works under stressful conditions. Performs related tasks as required. Reports to the Shift Supervisor – Communications Center Supervisor. Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by nine to twelve months of experience in emergency dispatch operations, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be able to successfully complete required training in order to obtain E-911 and NCIC certifications. Must possess a valid S.C. driver's license.
