Forfeited Land Commission Offers Property For Sale

The Aiken County Forfeited Land Commission will be offering the following properties for sale through sealed bid beginning 8:30 AM June 17 and ending at 5:00 PM EDT June 25. The property is listed by tax parcel number, location, and the minimum bid that will be accepted. Sealed bids for specific property (must list ID number) may be submitted to the Commission at Room 118 of the County Complex or mailed to Aiken County Forfeited Land Commission, PO Box 636, Aiken SC 29802. Bids will be opened at 10:00 AM in the auditorium of the County Council chambers on June 26th. Bid forms may be found on the county’s website at www.aikencountysc.gov or may be picked up from the ServiceCenter at the County Complex at 828 Richland Ave. W., Aiken, SC. Recording fees will be added to the sale price at closing. Payments must be cash or cashier’s check. Properties not paid for within 72 hours will be offered to the next highest bidder.

Voting Open For Our New Logo

Aiken County Government is experiencing an exciting transition. Next year, we will be relocating to a new, modern government center. This center will benefit the public through providing modern access to multiple departments in one location. In this transition, Aiken County wants to showcase this exciting time with a new logo design that represents the County. In an effort to involve the community, Aiken County worked with University of South Carolina-Aiken graphic design students to create a design that would best represent the County. Professor Michael Fowler’s class of approximately 20 graphic design students created individual designs that were then narrowed down to six by County staff. The staff provided feedback to these six students and asked them to work together to develop two design ideas ready to present to County Council. Aiken County Council would like your feedback about these logos. After all, this is your County.

Dougherty Road Corridor Study Draft Available and Public Meeting Scheduled

Dougherty Road Corridor Study Draft has been made available and a public meeting has been scheduled. A drop-in public meeting will be held on June 27, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1003 Spaulding Drive. Comments received by July 12, 2013 will be considered in preparing the final draft of the Study. Your participation is critical to the success of this project. Vehicle and Real Property Tax Receipt inquiry and printing is now available on our website. Real Property receipts are available from 1991 to present, and vehicle receipts are available from 1994 to present. Receipts are searchable by owner-name, receipt number, or property number.
