Solicitor's Victim-Witness Assistance Program Office Creates Children’s Corner

July 9, 2010
The Solicitor's Victim-Witness Assistance Program (VWAP) office has added a “Children’s Corner”, a cheerfully decorated, child-friendly area where children are invited to play while they or their parents await assistance in the VWAP office. With donations from The Women of Woodside, the Victim-Witness Assistance Office was able to purchase items needed to create the Children’s Corner. “This was our way of providing a small measure of comfort to children who have suffered losses as the result of a crime”, explains Angela Key, Victim/Witness Coordinator. For additional information, please call Carla Deering or Felicia Mims at 803-642-1557 ext. 351.
Victim-Witness Assistance Program is an advocacy program which assists victims and witnesses of crimes throughout the prosecutorial process. VWAP provides assistance with compensation, referrals, notification of case proceedings, courtroom procedures/accompaniment and employer and/or creditor intervention.
