Calendar 2008: Ballroom Exhibits
Jan 7 - Feb 3: My Favorite Horse Photography Show:
Last year we started the Ballroom Exhibit Season off with a wonderful show. We asked people to bring in 8 x 10 photos of their favorite horse. We had over 100 photos submitted and being that this was so popular we will again ask the public to share thieir favorite horse photographs. I am sure everyone has great photos to share!
Feb 5 - Feb 17: Be My Valentine:
This will be another one of those exhibits we tried last year. We included old valentines and we had these 9" pink blank valentines, which a sweetheart could write a valentine wish to their special person and make a donation. The donation were given to the Breast Cancer Awareness Fund($113), we hope that this amount will be even more this year.
Feb 19 - March 30: Hotels of Aiken County:
This exhibit was scheduled for 2007, but the Polo Exhibit was so good we left it up longer. This exhibit will feature famous hotels like the Hampton Terrace, the Willcox, the Schwartz, the Park in the Pines, the Highland Park, the Bonner, and many more.
April 1 - April 27: Golf:
Spring time around the County, many turn to the fairways and the greens of the golf courses that are such a part of Aiken County. The history is rich and the present number of quality courses in the county is amazing. Come to the Museum and enjoy another special aspect of Aiken County.
April 29 - May 25: Play Ball:
On May 24th, 2007, professional baseball came back to Aiken County. The second season of the Foxhounds baseball will be played at Hernandez Stadium on the USCA campus. Come to the Museum to see and read about baseball in Aiken County. The mill teams, the town teams and of course you know that the Baltimore Orioles held spring training here in Aiken County during the 1940 season!
June 3 - June 29: Our Glimpse of the Treasures of Aiken County:
The ballroom at the Museum will feature a tour of day trips for you and your family to see in Aiken County. You'll find many special places and historic landmarks that you can visit in wonderful Aiken County.
July 24 - Aug 24: The Aiken Artist guild Show:
This traditional show has become much more this past year as our friends in the Guild have put on several excellent exhibits for the public and sales reflect the quality and the affordability of the art presented. Please, come and support your local artists.
Spetember: Polo:
When it's September, it is Polo in the Polo Capital of the United States, Aiken S.C. Aiken is where the greatest polo players have lived and where the resurgence of polo fields has made Aiken County the place to play the game. From Whitney field to the newest polo field on Polo Alley, the best will be seen in Aiken County. The exhibit in the Ballroom was seen on ESPN2 last year and this year we will try to impress you even more!
October:
The staff has chosen not to do a new show this month in the Ballroom.
November:
Our traditional Quilt Show is such a treat and we look forward to another special show this year. Join us for a delight to your eyes as these amazing artists show you their treasured works.
December:
The Holidays at the Museum are always a warm and delightful time. We have many gatherings and the Aiken Artist Guild had a great show in 2007, and maybe we can get them to again bring us, "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas". |
