Aiken County Government

provides many essential and beneficial services to its citizens. The County is governed by the County Council, comprised of an elected-at-large Council Chairman and 8 members elected from single-member districts. Find out who your Aiken County Council member is, and how to contact that person. Aiken County's Code of Laws is accessible online here. Also available are the Code of Laws for the City of Aiken and the City of North Augusta. The South Carolina Code of Laws and other references are also available online. Aiken County Government's services are provided by different departments in many locations around this large County. You can contact the County staff by phone, email, or in person. Generally, County offices are open between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.



The County normally has several job openings available to qualified applicants, as do the City of Aiken and the City of North Augusta. The South Carolina OneStop Job Center offers many great resources to assist you in your search for new and better employment.

State government provides helpful information to new and existing businesses at their Business One-Stop website, their Business site at SCBOS.SC.GOV, and at the SC Department of Commerce website. Business licenses are required in some of the incorporated areas of the County, but are not required in the unincorporated areas.

    Job Description:  Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems and equipment. Performs general basic construction work, custodial duties, and lawn care and grounds upkeeps. Assistant to the Maintenance Supervisor/Specialist. Reports to the Site Maintenance Supervisor.     Job Description:  Under general supervision, provides crew leadership and participates in the custodial maintenance of Savannah River Research Campus buildings to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors.     Position: Geoservices Analyst
    Department: Information Technology

    Job Description:  Prepares and reviews cadastral and ad hoc maps, data and analyses using GIS. Requires an Associate’s degree in GIS, computer aided drafting, geography, planning or related field supplemented by two to three years progressively responsible experience using the Esri suite of GIS products; or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience and clearly-demonstrated acceptable level of performance sufficient to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Experience with web maps/apps, programming and/or GIS field data collection a plus. Reports to the Geoservices Manager.

    Job Description:  Under occasional supervision, coordinates assigned public works projects to ensure compliance with all County regulations and specifications, and assists the County Engineer in preparing engineering designs for capital improvements and modifications of public works facilities and infrastructure.     Position: Dispatcher II
    Department: Aiken County Sheriff's Office

    Job Description:  Under occasional supervision, receives in-coming emergency and non-emergency calls, and dispatches calls for law enforcement to appropriate personnel in an accurate, timely and professional manner. Works under stressful conditions. Performs related tasks as required. Reports to the Shift Supervisor – Communications Center Supervisor. Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by nine to twelve months of experience in emergency dispatch operations, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.     Position: Chief Tax Appraiser

    Job Description:  This position manages the team of appraisers within the Office of the Assessor. As such, this position may be required to assist the appraisal team by traveling throughout Aiken County to evaluate the worth of real property for tax assessment purposes in accordance with DC Code of Laws and Aiken County ordinances. REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE: Education: 4 year college degree; CG required. Experience: 5 years to become competent plus management experience. Required Qualifications: Licenses, Certificates, Registrations or any relevant knowledge, job skill or equivalent experience. Competent and compliant with USPAP, certified residential appraiser/mass or certified general appraiser/mass.

    Job Description:  Coordinate with school officials as to dates, times and advertisements, for Day Camp Program. Plan and develop activities for Program. Interviews Day Camp Counselors. Coordinate with additional agencies to provide additional staff. Prepare facility and materials for Program. Greet and register all children. Maintain attendance records. Supervise children and staff during Program. Must have good communication skills, along with a willingness to work with the public. Must have organizational skills with an emphasis on accuracy.
